OLDENBURG WARMBLOOD
BORN 2004
BREEDER: KEN BORDEN, JR
Breeding Notes
The foal has two crosses to the stallion Rubinstein (a son and a daughter each in the fifth generation), leading to a blood percentage of 6.25%. Rubinstein comes from the Westphalian R-line founded by Ramzes X, who was of vast importance to warmblood breeding in the post-World War II period, founding a dynasty of show jumpers in Holstein and of dressage superstars in Westphalia. Two crosses to the renowned dressage sire Mahagoni through Millennium ensure rideability and lovely gaits. Finally, two crosses each to the black-type racing superstars Princequillo xx and Eight Thirty xx ensure outstanding athleticism. Princequillo xx won several important races at longer distances and broke the Saratoga Race Course record for 1¾ miles. He is considered to be the best long-distance runner, with the exception of Kelso, in American racing history. Eight Thirty xx was extraordinarily handsome horse, with 16 wins out of 27 starts, as well as 3 seconds and 5 thirds. After being retired to stud, he sired 44 stakes winners and was the damsire of 1962 Belmont Stakes winner Jaipur.
