Our focus at Annorien is the preservation and development of foundation cavalry genetics, and both the Orlov-Rostopchin and Shagya-Arabian hold a vital place in that history. Bred originally for the Tsarist Court and Austro-Hungarian military, they were designed to carry officers across vast distances with absolute soundness. Crucially, they also served as a premier “improver” breed. When early European warmblood registries needed to inject endurance, structural efficiency, and hardened tendons into their lines, they turned to these cavalry lines.
Preserving this distinct genetic heritage today is about maintaining the very qualities that built the athletic sporthorse: immense stamina, natural forward energy, and a deep, working intelligence. Kajsa possesses exactly this kind of thoughtful approach to training. She understands that developing these horses is about building a willing partnership, not forcing a frame.
